Relache premieres 'EVOLUTE' at UD Thursday

4:45 p.m., March 20, 2007--Contemporary music pioneers Relāche will present the world premier of EVOLUTE at 8 p.m., Thursday, March 22, in the Gore Recital Hall of the Center for the Arts.

For a quarter century, Relāche has maintained an international reputation as a leader in commissioning, presenting and performing innovative music. It is among the oldest continuously operating, nonprofit organizations and chamber ensembles dedicated to contemporary music in the United States and has always invested heavily in the future of new music through its commitment to the work of young and emerging composers.

EVOLUTE was composed by Elliott Sharp, who is considered one of the founders of New York's Downtown Scene and a pioneer in applying fractal geometry, chaos theory and biological metaphors to musical composition.

Also on the program are Fred Frith's shading my face it shall be you, Randall Woolf's avant-rock My Insect Bride and John King's Road Map.

Admission is $12 for adults, $8 for senior citizens, UD staff and alumni and $3 for students. Tickets may be purchased at the door or in advance at the Trabant University Center or the Bob Carpenter Center box offices.
