Farley Grubb, professor of economics, was cited in a June 21 Washington Post column by Robert J. Samuelson. The column concerned the emergence of plastic money over cash.

Richard Wool, professor of chemical engineering, was featured in a June 19 New York Times story about the creation of polymers from renewable resources. Wool uses such materials as soybeans and chicken feathers to manufacture “green” plastics. Wool spoke recently at a New York Academy of Sciences symposium on green chemistry.

Charles Elson, Edgar S. Woolard Jr. Chair and director of the John L. Weinberg Center for Corporate Governance, was quoted in a June 19 Financial Times story about the Dow Jones board and its role in ongoing takeover attempts. Also, Elson was quoted in a June 18 Newsday story about executive compensation and in a June 16 Associated Press story about H.J. Heinz Co.

Jean Pfaelzer, professor of English, is the author of the new book Driven Out: The Forgotten War Against Chinese Americans, which was reviewed in the June 19 Washington Post.

Willett Kempton, associate professor of marine and earth studies, was cited in a June 19 CNN Money story about renewable energy funding through a large Google grant.

Victor Klemas, professor emeritus of marine and earth studies, was cited in a June 19 Columbus (Ohio) Dispatch story about new satellite technology that can be used to measure water around the world.

Ian Appelbaum, assistant professor of electrical and computer engineering, was quoted in a June 19 Electronic Design story about his work in spintronics.

Michael Gamel-McCormick, interim chairperson of the Department of Individual and Family studies and director of the Center for Disabilities Studies, was quoted in a June 19 News Journal story about children with Down syndrome.

Jeff Schneider, instructor and athletic trainer in the Department of Health, Nutrition and Exercise Sciences, was quoted in a June 18 News Journal story about athletic trainers from Delaware who work with elite athletes. Schneider trains national champion figure skater Kimmie Meissner, who competes for the UD Figure Skating Club.

Kelvin Ramsey, a scientist with the Delaware Geological Survey, based at UD, was quoted in a June 13 News Journal story about rising sea levels and the impact that could have on the Delaware coast.

David W. Smith, associate professor of biological sciences, was featured in a June 6 Los Angeles Times column by Chris Dufresne, who cited Smith's Retrosheet baseball research web site.
