Spinto Band at Bacchus Theatre Jan. 19

2:57 p.m., Jan. 5, 2007--Bar-None Records' Spinto Band, a group with local roots, will perform at 8:30 p.m., Friday, Jan. 19, in the Bacchus Theatre in the Perkins Student Center.

Dubbed “an indie phenomenon” by critics, the Spinto Band has been compared musically to the bands the Flaming Lips and Pavement. They have released seven albums in the past decade, have appeared with the British hit band the Arctic Monkeys, and recently had their song “Mandy” used in the soundrack of Four-Eyed Monsters, an independent film that gained underground hit status in 2006.

Doors for the show, which is sponsored by UD's Student Centers Programming Advisory Board, open at 8 p.m., and tickets will be sold at that time. Admission is $4 for UD students with valid ID and $8 for all others. For more information, call (302) 831-8192 or visit [www.scpab.com].
