UD Police investigate attempted robbery

10:29 a.m., Nov. 14, 2005--University Police are investigating the attempted robbery of a pizza delivery driver that occurred around 2 a.m., Monday, Nov. 14, outside the Russell D residence hall.

A driver for Pizza University had just completed making a delivery, and as he left the residence hall, an unknown suspect came from behind some bushes. The suspect approached the victim, demanded money and lunged at him with a knife in his right hand. The victim struck the suspect in the face with a closed fist, knocking the suspect back, then ran from the scene. The suspect called out that the victim should give him his money or he would take his car. The driver ran to an emergency blue light phone outside of Pearson Hall and contacted University Police.

Newark Police and New Castle County Police canine unit assisted in a search of the area.

The suspect is described as 5 feet 8 inches to 6 feet tall, weighing 150 pounds, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and a ski mask.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the University Police at (302) 831-2222.
