Benefits to bring cheer to children with cancer

11:22 a.m., Nov. 22, 2005--UD students are invited to participate in Tricky Tray raffle and Hoops for Hope basketball tournament, hosted by EDucation for a Cure, to help purchase holiday gifts for children with cancer at the Alfred I. duPont Children’s Hospital in Wilmington.

A student organization, EDucation for a Cure was formed last spring as a tribute to Erin Patricia Donnelly, a UD student who battled a type of muscle cancer during her late high school and college years that claimed her life at the age of 21.

The Tricky Tray raffle will be held from 11 a.m.-6 p.m., Monday, Dec. 5, in the Gallery of the Perkins Student Center. A selection of gift items and gift certificates will be available for the raffle. Participants may buy tickets for $1 each, put their name and e-mail address on each one and place the tickets into the container next to the wanted item. At 6 p.m., a drawing will be held for each item, and winners will be contacted.

The 3-on-3 Hoops for Hope basketball tournament will be held from 5-8 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 8, in Gym B in the Carpenter Sports Center. The cost per team, with up to five players each, is $15, and there will be free food and raffles.

For more information about either event or to register a Hoops for Hope team, contact David Sherman at [Dsherman@udel.edu].
