Charles Elson, Edgar S. Woolard Jr. Chair in Corporate Governance and director of the John L. Weinberg Center for Corporate Governance, was quoted concerning the Enron verdict in the May 26 issues of the Washington Post and Chicago Tribune, as well as by the Reuters news service. Elson also was quoted about Home Depot, which held its annual meeting in Wilmington, in the May 26 Wall Street Journal and Atlanta Journal-Constitution and in the May 24 New York Times. He was quoted about problems at Fannie Mae in the May 24 USA Today and on the May 23 Morning Edition program on National Public Radio.

Linda Gottfredson, professor of education, was noted in a May 25 U.S. News & World Report column on career advice for geniuses.

Bahira Sherif Trask, associate professor of individual and family studies, was quoted in a May 23 News Journal story on the bonds fostered by the popular television show American Idol. "It brings people together. It's not something you have to read or think about," she said. "Everybody likes to watch television. It's a common bond. And it allows different generations to interact with each other in a simple sort of way."

YoUDee, the University's award-winning mascot, was noted in a May 21 Washington Post feature about the student inside the George Mason University mascot costume.

J. A. Leo Lemay, Winterthur Professor of English, was quoted in a May 21 Boston Globe story about Benjamin Franklin.

Xiao-Hai Yan, Mary A. S. Lighthipe Professor of Marine Studies, and Wendy Carey, coastal processes specialist for the UD Sea Grant Marine Advisory Service, were quoted in a May 21 News Journal story about hurricane season.

Muqtedar Khan, assistant professor of political science and international relations, was quoted in a May 20 Dallas Morning News story about a British documentary titled Turning Muslim in Texas.

Students

Kevin DuPrey, a UD long-distance runner, was featured in a May 24 News Journal story after receiving the Colonial Athletic Association's John H. Randolph Inspiration Award. DuPrey's athletic career was hampered by a bout with Lyme disease.

Alumni

Naomi Bellot, a UD graduate and doctoral student in sociology at Arizona State University, was featured in the May 25 Arizona Republic. She has received a Fulbright Scholarship and plans to study in the Caribbean.

Matt Nagy and Jamin Elliott, former UD football players, were featured in a May 21 News Journal story about their success in the Arena Football League, where both play for the Georgia Force.
