Nerys helps Frankfurt win NFL Europe title
2:05 p.m., May 30, 2006--Former University of Delaware offensive lineman Jason Nerys, a key member of the 2003 NCAA Division I-AA national championship Fightin' Blue Hens football team, now has a second title to his credit. Nerys played center for the NFL Europe champion Frankfurt Galaxy, which defeated the Amsterdam Admirals 22-7 in the World Bowl XIV game played Saturday. Nerys, who originally was signed by the New York Jets, was allocated to NFL Europe by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He generally played behind starter Charles Missant of the Jets but did start a key win against Berlin in which Frankfurt clinched its World Bowl berth. With Frankfurt, Nerys helped the team to develop an exceptionally strong running game. Running back Roger Robinson led the league in rushing and had 96 yards in the World Bowl, while fellow back Butchie Wallace ran for 143 more in the title game. |
