Amalia Amaki, curator of the Paul R. Jones Collection at UD and an accomplished artist in her own right, was featured in the End Paper section of the May 5 issue of the Chronicle of Higher Education. The article considers her use of buttons, which are the subject of the book Amalia Amaki: Boxes, Buttons and the Blues that accompanies an exhibition open through May 13 at the Spelman College Museum of Fine Art.

John Antil, associate professor of business administration, was quoted in a story in the May 5 Ocala (Fla.) Star-Banner about the mass appeal of the Kentucky Derby.

Charles Elson, Edgar S. Woolard Jr. Chair in Corporate Governance and director of the John L. Weinberg Center for Corporate Governance, was quoted in a May 2 Forbes article about corporate governance and democracy and in a May 2 Philadelphia Inquirer story about an AMAMARK Corp. buyout bid. Also, Elson was quoted in an April 30 Chicago Tribune story on compensation for corporate directors, in an April 26 St. Paul Pioneer Press story on a controversy at UnitedHealth Group, and in an April 25 Baltimore Sun story on a new chief executive officer and chairman at Integral.

UD senior Amy Lillianthal and her grandmother Belle Lillianthal were featured on NBC's Today Show on May 1. Belle Lillianthal spent time on campus living the life of a student while Amy Lillianthal spent time at a retirement community in Florida.

Norman Wagner, Alvin B. and Julia O. Stiles Professor of Chemical Engineering, was noted in a story in the May issue of Scientific American on liquid body armor developed at UD. The material also received mention in the April 21 Baltimore Examiner.

Cindy Farach-Carson, professor of biological sciences, was featured in an April 30 News Journal story on her cancer research.

Karen Rosenberg, chairperson of the Department of Anthropology, Cindy Farach-Carson, professor of biological sciences, and Lynn Snyder-Mackler, professor of physical therapy, were quoted in an April 30 News Journal story about women in the sciences.

Edward C. Ratledge, director of UD's Center for Applied Demography and Survey Research, was quoted in an April 30 News Journal story on reaction to rising gas prices.

April Veness, associate professor of geography, was quoted in an April 30 News Journal story about Guatemalan immigrants living in Sussex County.

James R. Soles, Alumni Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Political Science and International Relations, was quoted in an April 30 News Journal story about the state's Republican Party primary.

Willett Kempton, associate professor of marine studies, was quoted in an April 26 Reuters story on the debate over construction of a wind power farm off the Massachusetts coast.

Muqtedar Khan, assistant professor of political science and international relations, was quoted in an April 26 Bloomberg story on developments in Iraq.

George Watson, senior associate dean in the College of Arts and Sciences, was quoted in an April 25 News Journal story on a National Science Foundation grant for a joint project between UD and the New Castle County Vocational Technical School District.

Steve Martin, co-director of UD's Center for Drug and Alcohol Studies, appeared on stories on CNN and Fox News concerning the hallucinogenic herb Salvia.
