Water resources internship deadline Friday

2:20 p.m., March 20, 2006--The Delaware Water Resources Center at UD is now accepting applications for its summer undergraduate water resources internship program, which has supported more than 60 UD undergraduate student research projects since 2000.

Students in the program may earn up to $3,500 paid as hours worked through Feb. 28, 2007. Deadline for applications for fall 2006-2007 internships is Friday, March 24.

Interns must submit a written report on their projects by March 31, 2007, and also participate in a poster session at an undergraduate research conference in the spring of 2007.

With the exception of those graduating in spring 2006, the internship program is open to undergraduate students at any institution of higher learning in the state of Delaware.

DWRC intern Michael Zuk studies specialized plants that improve soil drainage and reduce pollutant runoff in developed and paved areas.
Students must have the active support of a faculty adviser and a minimum GPA of 3.0. Academic credit also is possible, but must be coordinated with the student's faculty adviser.

Internship sponsors include UD's colleges of Arts and Sciences, Agriculture and Natural Resources, Engineering, and Marine Studies, the Department of Plant and Soil Sciences at UD, Delaware State University, the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control, the Delaware Geological Survey, the Institute for Soil and Environmental Quality, and the Institute for Public Administration Water Resources Agency.
