Spring walking program deadline March 29

4:48 p.m., March 23, 2006-- “UD's Amazing Race,” the Employee Wellness Center's ninth annual Spring Walking Program, begins Monday, April 3 and runs through Sunday, May 28.

Registration deadline is Wednesday, March 29.

During the eight-week program, participants will take an imaginary trip around the world setting weekly walking mileage goals and advancing through each destination.

Walkers will journey to eight destinations across the globe, each week receiving e-mail links to walking tips and fun facts about Rio de Janeiro; Bayreuth, Germany; Arusha, Tanzania; Jaipur, India; Rotorua, New Zealand; Suva, Fiji; Jackson Hole, Wyo., and Newark.

All participants who meet each of their weekly walking goals will receive a water bottle and be eligible for weekly prizes and a grand prize drawing for a $500 travel voucher from University Travel.

Employees and retirees may register as individuals or as members of five-person teams. Participants must choose a walking level according to their current level of fitness.

Employees and retirees can register online at [www.udel.edu/wellness].

More than 400 employees have registered for the program to-date

Those who registered by Thursday, March 9, were eligible to win a $100 gift certificate to Save on Sneaks. The early bird prize chosen randomly went to Sandra Lonie, senior secretary in library administration.

Cost of the program is 15 Wellness Dollars.
