'Confessions of a Dork' talk, book signing

4:32 p.m., March 1, 2006--UD alumna and award-winning young adult novelist Lara Zeises will present a lecture, “True Confessions of a Dork: How (and Why) I Became an Author,” at 5 p.m., Wednesday, March 8, in 108 Memorial Hall.

Zeises will read from her third novel, Anyone But You, and discuss her personal experiences, such as her path to publication, how her English/journalism degree helped her become an author and why she decided to earn master's degree in creative writing.

Zeises holds a bachelor's degree in English/journalism from UD as well as a masters of fine arts degree in creative writing from Emerson College. In addition, she has received an Emerging Artist Fellowship in Literature and Fiction from the Delaware Division of the Arts and was the winner of the Delacorte Press Prize Honor for her book, Bringing Up the Bones. Zeises currently teaches freshman English at UD.

A reception will follow the reading. The University Bookstore will have copies of her books at the lecture for purchase.

For more information, visit [www.zeisgeist.com] or call the English Department at (302) 831-2361.
