Hen lacrosse teams cited in national polls

3:37 p.m., March 21, 2006--Both University of Delaware lacrosse teams have been cited in national polls this week, with the Fightin' Blue Hen men's team No. 13 in both the U.S. Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association and Inside Lacrosse magazine polls, and the women's team receiving votes for the first time this season in the Inside Lacrosse poll.

The UD men's team is 8-1 following a 7-6 victory over Butler University last Saturday. They have an important game this weekend against defending Colonial Athletic Association champion Towson University. The teams will meet at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, March 25, at Towson.

The women's team is 3-3 following a 10-9 victory over Brown University on Sunday. The also defeated a ranked team, topping the then No. 17 University of Pennsylvania 9-8. They will play at Towson this weekend, as well, taking on the Tigers at 7 p.m., Friday, March 24.

Also for the women's team, junior Katie Muth was named the CAA Player of the Week and freshman Debbie Sloan was named the Rookie of the Week. Muth had two goals and two assists against Brown, and had three goals against Penn. Sloan had a goal and an assist in both games.
