Leland Ware, Louis L. Redding Chair for the Study of Law and Public Policy, and Breck Robinson, associate professor or urban affairs, were featured in a March 2 News Journal story about a summit they have organized to consider the lack of financial services for low income people. The summit will be held March 17 in John M. Clayton Hall.

Charles Elson, Edgar S. Woolard Jr. Chair in Corporate Governance and director of the John L. Weinberg Center for Corporate Governance, was quoted in a March 1 News Journal story about Delmarva Power's selection of a sister company as a provide of electricity, in a Feb. 28 Atlanta Journal-Constitution story on sales of shares by EarthLink executives, in a Feb. 24 USA Today story about boards of directors, in a Feb. 23 Charlotte Observer story about Wachovia, in a Feb. 22 Fort Worth Star-Telegram story about a severance package for an executive at RadioShack Corp., and in a Feb. 19 Pittsburgh Post-Gazette story on Sovereign Bancorp.

Balaji Panchapakesan, assistant professor of electrical and computer engineering, was featured in the March 1 issue of Wired magazine, which cited his work with cancer cell-killing nanobombs in its Start section. Panchapakesan's work also was featured in two Feb. 24 stories in the News Journal.

Mark Pellegrini, a UD doctoral candidate in electrical and computer engineering, was quoted in a Feb. 28 Gannett News Service story on “Wikipedians,” those who spend time making edits to the online encylopedia.

Ben Yagoda, professor of English, wrote a piece for the Feb. 28 Philadelphia Inquirer recounting his efforts to give something back to hurricane ravaged New Orleans by clearing debris at Willie Mae's Scotch House.

Cynthia Cummings, associate vice president for campus life, was quoted in a Feb. 28 News Journal story about the University's new Stop The Hate web page.

Kimmie Meissner of the University of Delaware Figure Skating Club, who finished sixth in the 2006 Winter Olympic Games in Turin, was featured on broadcasts and in newspapers throughout the Philadelphia and Baltimore metro areas as she returned home to a cheering crowd at Philadelphia International Airport on Feb. 27.

Nancy Cotugna, professor of health, nutrition and exercise sciences, was quoted in a Feb. 26 Delaware State News story as she helped announce result of the 2006 Hunger in Delaware study.

Maria Pippidis of UD's Cooperative Extension Service and Patricia Tanner Nelson, professor of food and resource economics, were quoted in a Feb. 26 News Journal story about helping teach manners to children.

Jeanne Geddes-Key, the Emily L. Phelps Director of The College School, was quoted in a Feb. 26 News Journal story about helping children develop their imaginations.

Kathleen Turkel, assistant professor of women's studies, was quoted in a Feb. 26 News Journal story about growing numbers of older mothers who are losing their babies.

Eric W. Kaler, Elizabeth Inez Kelley Professor of Chemical Engineering and dean of the College of Engineering, was quoted in a Feb. 24 News Journal story about nanotechnology at the University of Delaware.

Jacquelyn Wilson, assistant professor of education, was quoted in a Feb. 24 News Journal story about effective teachers.

Norman Wagner, Alvin B. and Julia O. Stiles Professor of Chemical Engineering, was quoted in Feb. 24 Associated Press stories about his work with liquid body armor.

Ron Ludington, director of UD's Ice Skating Science Development Center, was featured on WHYY's Radio Times with Marty Moss-Coane on Feb. 23, discussing Olympic skating. He was quoted about Olympic figure skating in the Feb. 23 Baltimore Sun and about the success of the ISSDC and the University of Delaware Figure Skating Club in the Feb. 21 Baltimore Sun.

Ajay Manrai, professor of business administration, was quoted in a Feb. 23 News Journal story about businesses attracting customers through giveaways.

Muqtedar Khan, assistant professor of political science and international relations, was featured on a Feb. 23 WILM-AM program about sectarian violence in Iraq.

James R. Soles, Alumni Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Political Science and International Relations, was quoted in a Feb. 21 News Journal story about the politics of electric rate deregulation.

Bud Malone of UD's Cooperative Extension Service was quoted in a Feb. 20 Washington Post story on the use of composting to combat bird flu.

Janis Tomlinson, director of University Museums, was quoted in a Feb. 20 News Journal feature about the show “Objects of Desire: Recent Gifts to the University Museums.”

Roberta Michnick Golinkoff, H. Rodney Sharp Chair in Human Services, Education and Public Policy, was quoted in a Feb. 19 Boston Globe story about the increasing use of tutoring for young children. She believes in the value of play as opposed to high-pressure educational methods.

Fred J. DeMicco, ARAMARK Chair in Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Management, was quoted in a Gannett News Service article on the use of technology in restaurants. The story originally appeared in the Jan. 22 News Journal and subsequently was run in mid-February in a number of newspapers, including the Louisville Courier-Journal, the Asbury Park (N.J.) Press and the Fort Myers (Fla.) News-Press.

Research by the UD Center for Drug and Alcohol Studies was highlighted in testimony before the U.S. House of Representatives Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism and Homeland Security by Nora D. Volkow, director of the National Institute on Drug Abuse, on Feb. 8, and subsequently noted in Congressional Quarterly.

Sam Lemheney, AG '90, was featured in a March 2 New York Times story about the Philadelphia Flower Show. Lemheney was designer of the show, titled “Enchanted Spring: A Tribute to Mother Nature.”
