Nana named All-CAA, Taylor on rookie team

9:16 a.m., March 3, 2006--University of Delaware senior forward Harding Nana has been named first team All-Colonial Athletic Association for the second straight season and freshman point guard Zaire Taylor has been named to the CAA All-Rookie Team.

The UD players were recognized during the CAA men's basketball awards banquet held Thursday night in advance of the conference championship tournament, which opens today at the Richmond Coliseum.

Nana, who becomes the sixth Delaware player to earn first team all- conference honors in consecutive seasons and the first since Mike Pegues in the America East Conference from 1998-2000, was joined on the first team by CAA Player of the Year Jose Juan Barea of Northeastern University, Nick George of Virginia Commonwealth University, Jai Lewis of George Mason University and Loren Stokes of Hofstra University.

Zaire Taylor
Nana leads the CAA with 11.0 rebounds per game and is second with 19.4 points per game, and he ranks second in NCAA Division I in rebounding and 36th in scoring. Nana is sixth in UD history with 767 career rebounds and eighth with 1,318 career points.

Taylor is the ninth Hen in school history to earn conference all-rookie honors and the first since Mike Slattery was named to the CAA All-Rookie Team in 2001-02. CAA Rookie of the Year Juwann James of James Madison University, Calvin Baker of the College of William & Mary, Rashad Chase of Georgia State University and Tim Crossin of Towson University joined Taylor on the team.

Taylor leads the CAA with 2.32 steals per game, is sixth with 3.86 assists per game and is 10th with a 1.64 assist-to-turnover ratio. He leads the Hens with 108 assists and 65 steals, and is averaging 6.8 points and 3.2 rebounds per game.
