Global governance colloquium series set 4 p.m., March 1, 2006--UD's Department of Political Science and International Relations is sponsoring a spring colloquium on global governance and society. Beginning Monday, March 6, and ending Monday, April 24, the lectures are held in conjunction with a senior graduate seminar and writing workshop. All lectures are held Mondays, at 5 p.m. in 116 Gore Hall. Leonard Schoppa, professor at the University of Virginia, lectures on "Exit, Voice, and Reform of Male Breadwinner Social Structures: Low-Fertility Equilibrium in Japan and Italy," Monday, March 6. Daniel Chong, professor at American University, lectures on "Reconstructing Rights: What Emerging NGO Practice on Subsistence Rights Reveals about Human Rights Politics," Monday, March 13. Ken Cousins, professor at the University of Maryland, lectures on "The Forest Stewardship Council: NonState Certification Systems as a Form of Governance," (tentative title) Monday, April 3. Deborah Avant, professor at the George Washington University, lectures on "The Market for Force," Monday, April 10. Hans Peter Schmitz (tentative), professor at the Maxwell School of Citizenship & Public Affairs, Syracuse University lectures on "Accountability and Non-State Actors in Africa," Monday, April 24.
