Senior class gift online voting under way

12:29 p.m., March 13, 2006--Members of the Class of 2006 are invited to celebrate their years at UD by helping to select a gift in their name to the University.

Students graduating in May and January can vote online at [www.udel.edu/seniorclass] through Tuesday, March 14, and become eligible to enter a drawing for a free cap and gown and $50 gift certificate that can be used to purchase a diploma frame, donated by the University Bookstore.

During the fall semester, the Class of 2006 gathered gift ideas from the student body. Below are the top four ideas:

• Name a lounge or class room for the Class of 2006 in the new Center for the Arts Building;
• A beautification project near the new Laird Campus residence halls;
• Campus clocks (similar to the one near Purnell Hall); and
• Establish a scholarship fund.

This year's graduating class is working to surpass the $47,000 raised by the Class of 2005 for its gift.
