Fisher Scientific named UD lab supplier

3:52 p.m., March 22, 2006--UD has negotiated a new contract for laboratory supplies, chemicals and scientific equipment with Fisher Scientific.

The new agreement includes onsite supplies and customer service, excellent contract pricing and sales and technical support.

To accommodate online ordering with next-day delivery and a
competitive pricing structure, storerooms of Fisher products are located in Brown Lab and Wolf Hall.

Under the agreement, the storerooms will be staffed and have hours convenient to faculty and students, and Judy Cary, a Fisher sales representative, will be available for additional support. Cary is a 25-year employee with Fisher Scientific dedicated solely to serving UD employees.

The new contract provides that there will be aggressive pricing levels for on-campus and delivered products, next day delivery of items not stocked on campus; product shows and technical seminars.

Tom Apple, dean of the College of Arts & Science, encourages members of UD research community to use the new storerooms. “I am delighted that Fisher Scientific is now operating the University's scientific storerooms. This new arrangement will provide us with improved service and competitive pricing,” Apple said.

Tory Windley, director of procurement services, said, ”For many years Fisher has been our primary supplier of laboratory supplies, equipment and chemicals. Formalizing an agreement for the operation of the chemistry and biology storerooms is a natural outgrowth of the confidence our researchers have demonstrated in Fisher in the past. The success of this partnership is dependent on the use by all our
researchers. I personally ask for your support of this strategic
partnership to make it a success,” Windley said.

To learn more about this new service, contact Cary at 1-800-995-9999, extension 3434, or send e-mail to [judy.cary@fishersci.com].
