'Emergencies and Democratic Failure' talk April 6

10:15 a.m., March 24, 2006--Legal expert Eric Posner will discuss “Emergencies and Democratic Failure” from 3:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m., Thursday, April 6, in 230 Lerner Hall. Posner is the guest speaker for the second annual Koford Lecture, which was named in honor of former director of UD's Legal Studies Program, the late Kenneth J. Koford.

Posner, Kirkland and Ellis Professor of Law at the University of Chicago, wrote The Limits of International Laws and Law and Social Norms, and he has published articles on bankruptcy law, contract law, cost-benefit analysis, international law and administrative law. His current research focuses on international law, including laws of war, international adjudication and war crimes trials. Posner is a graduate of Yale College and Harvard Law School.

The lecture, free and open to the public, sponsored by the College of Arts and Sciences' Legal Studies Program and the Committee on Cultural Activities and Public Events.
