Exemplary use of teaching technology contest 11:01 a.m., March 7, 2006--UD's Exemplary Use of Technology in Teaching Contest is now accepting submissions from instructors. Students, faculty and staff also are encouraged to nominate courses for entry in the contest. The contest is open to all faculty who use technology effectively in the classroom. The top five winners will receive an iPod. All entries must be in by March 24. Submissions should include a list of learning goals and how they were achieved through technology. Finalists will be asked to present their technology and explain their methods to the judges on May 5. Winners will be notified by May 19 and will be invited to make presentations at UD's Summer Faculty Institute in June. Last year, four faculty members were recognized at the institute for their use of WebCT in their courses: James Dean, professor of English; Richard Gearhart, supplemental faculty chemistry and biochemistry; Richard Hanley, assistant professor of philosophy; and Chandra Reedy, professor of art history. Judges for this year's contest are Gabriele Bauer, teaching consultant, Center for Teaching Effectiveness; Chrystalla Mouza, assistant professor of education; Mark A. Serva, assistant professor of accounting and MIS; and Janet deVry, manager, IT User-Services. For more information, visit [www.udel.edu/present/contest/]. Article by Julia Parmley, AS '07 |
