Cognitive science lectures March 13

10:19 a.m., March 8, 2006--David Geary, professor of psychological sciences at the University of Missouri, will present two talks on Monday, March 13. The presentations, both of which are free and open to the public, are sponsored by UD's cognitive science program.

The first talk, “Origin of Mind: Evolution of Brain Cognition and General Intelligence,” will be held at noon in 219 Trabant University Center. The talk is part of the cognitive science program's brown bag lunch hour seminar series. A light lunch will be provided and those who plan to attend are asked to contact Jane Creswell at (302) 831-6806 or via email at creswell@udel.edu.

The second talk, "Does Evolution Explain Women's Advantage in Social Cognition?," will be held at 4 p.m. in 117 Gore Hall. The talk is part of the Sex and the Brain series.

Geary received his doctorate in developmental psychology in 1986 from the University of California Riverside and has held faculty positions at the University of Texas El Paso and the University of Missouri, where he is a professor of psychological sciences and former department chair.
