Sponsored by the Goldman Sachs Foundation, the National Council on Economic Education (NCEE), the Delaware Council on Economic Education and UD's Center for Economic Education and Entrepreneurship, the challenge reaches its conclusion in New York City on May 21-22 with the final four--the winners of the east, midwest, heartland and west divisions. At stake are thousands of dollars in cash prizes in addition to all-expense-paid trips to New York City for the regional winners and their teacher advisers. National championship teams and their teachers receive a $3,000 U.S. Savings Bond and the runner-up teams and their teachers receive $1,500 bonds. Team trophies and individual medals will be given to all participants in the championship series. NCEE and Goldman Sachs Foundation created the competition in 2000 to promote student interest in economics, reinforce classroom instruction, advance academics and school spirit and reward scholarship. |
