University Police investigate burglary attempt

11:55 a.m., March 29, 2006--University Police are investigating an attempted burglary that occurred on Tuesday, March 28, at the Christiana East Residence Hall.

Around 5:30 p.m., a resident student reported being awakened by a man who had entered the unlocked door of the apartment and attempted to steal a cell phone that was near the bed. When the student confronted the man, he left the apartment. Two other students at Christiana East Tower also reported that a man had entered their unlocked apartments around the same time, but no property was taken.

The suspect was described as 5 feet 8 inches to 6 feet tall with a large build, wearing a black shirt, baseball cap and blue jeans.

Anyone with information is asked to contact University Police at (302) 831-2222.

Members of the University community are reminded that doors to residence hall rooms should be kept locked at all times. Students should not admit persons that they do not know to residence halls, and any suspicious persons seen in a campus building should be reported to University Police immediately.
