March 24, 2006--Arthur Gordon Brewer, 81, died Feb. 2, at his Rocky Point home in Tampa, Fla.
Born in West Orange, N.J., Mr. Brewer attended West Orange (N.J.) High School and the University of Delaware, were he was a member of Theta Chi and Tau Beta Pi. He received his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from UD in 1946.
Mr. Brewer, an Episcopalian, was a U.S. Air Force veteran and served in World War II.
Besides being associated with coal-related businesses in the Pittsburgh area, including Service Processing, Fluid Density and Hydraservice, Mr. Brewer was district manager there for Shell Oil Co.
Before moving to the Tampa area, Mr. Brewer resided for 25 years in Stuart, Fla., where he was a member of the Miles Grant Country Club.
Mr. Brewer is survived by his wife of 59 years, Kathryn Ewing Brewer; his daughter and son-in-law, Krista and Michael McGovern, of Stuart; his son, Scot Burnham Brewer, of Chadds Ford, Pa.; his brother, John. F. Brewer, of Braddock Heights, Md; and canine friends Sara Lee, a golden retriever, and Duffy, a Westie.
