UD Botanic Gardens plant sale set April 29 9:59 a.m., March 8, 2006--Botanical enthusiasts looking to find unusual plants for their garden this spring need look no further than the 14th annual University of Delaware Botanic Gardens (UDBG) Benefit Plant Sale, which will be held from 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m., Saturday, April 29. Each year the sale features an exceptional plant. This year, the sale will feature the genus Stewartia, a great multi-season performer among ornamental trees. An abundance of species will be on sale, all of which feature white flowers in summer, red-orange fall colors and smooth, exfoliating bark in winter. For those wanting to get a jump on their spring garden design, more than 300 plants are available for pre-order. The plant sale catalog is available online at [http://ag.udel.edu/udbg] or may be obtained by calling Dot Milsom at (302) 831-2531. The pre-sale order deadline is April 10. Orders can be picked up from 2-7 p.m., Friday, April 28. The sale will be held behind Townsend Hall, across from the Fischer Greenhouse. Proceeds from the sale fund the UDBG horticultural education program. Article by Amelia Luchey, AS '06 |
