Blue & Gold Club events celebrate spring

9:57 a.m., March 8, 2006--UD's Blue and Gold Club is celebrating its 35th anniversary and the return of spring with events and special dinners in March and April. The dinners will feature themed menus.

The club will begin the spring season with a French Wine Dinner from 5-8 p.m., Thursday, March 9.

Adults and children can start their vacation with the California '70s Spring Break dinner from 5-8 p.m., Thursday, March 23. The menu includes chicken and lemongrass soup, gingered honey lime chicken and roasted red skin potatoes with caramelized onions. Cost of the buffet is $19.95 for adults and $9.50 for children ages 5 to 11.

From 5-8 p.m., Thursday, April 6, adults and children can enjoy treats from the It's a Small World Buffet. The menu includes French onion soup with Parmesan croutons, an entrée of clams and mussels marinara over linguini and Eskimo fish sticks. Cost of the buffet is $19.95 for adults and $9.50 for children ages 5 to 11.

The club is celebrating Easter with an Easter brunch on Sunday, April 16. Seatings will be at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. and the Easter bunny will come at noon and 1:30 p.m. The menu includes a fresh fruit bowl, Belgian waffles with assorted toppings and Virginia baked ham. Cost of the brunch is $19.95 for adults and $9.50 for children ages 5 to 11.

From 1-3 p.m., on Saturday, April 22, the club offers its Blue and Gold Afternoon Tea. The menu includes freshly baked scones, assorted tea sandwiches and a selection of teas and coffees. Cost of the tea is $12.50 for adults and $6.50 for children ages 5 to 11.

For vegetable lovers, there will be an Asparagus Fest from 5-8 p.m., on Thursday, April 27. The menu includes cream of asparagus, filet Rossini served with asparagus risotto and chocolate raspberry torte.

In celebration of Take our Daughters and Sons to Work Day on April 27, daughters and sons can dine at the club at half price.

This spring, the club offers half-priced nachos every Tuesday night in the Tavern. Fish market Fridays with a raw bar will be held every Friday night through Easter and families can enjoy Family Nights on Wednesdays in March. To celebrate the anniversary, children can eat for 35 cents with the purchase of one adult meal during Family Nights and any second dessert order will be 35 cents in April. Every Friday and Saturday night, a bottle of wine is half off with the purchase of two entrees.
