NFHCA academic team includes four Blue Hens 10:56 a.m., March 13, 2006--University of Delaware field hockey players Casey Howard, Kaili Kao, Lindsey Piester and Dusti Vanderwende have been named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division I National Academic Squad. Howard, a freshman education major with a 3.361 grade point average, started all 19 games for the Fightin' Blue Hens and was named to the Colonial Athletic Association All-Rookie Team. She was second on the team with seven goals and also had a pair of assists. Kao, a junior who has a 3.819 grade point average as an international relations major with a minor in business, appeared in all but one game while making nine starts. She scored three goals and added an assist. Piester, a junior who has a 3.342 grade point average as a business administration major with minors in Spanish and international business, appeared in all 19 games while making 16 starts. Vanderwende, a junior who is an animal science major with a 3.592 grade point average, appeared in six games. All four players were named to the CAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll last fall. |
