Eric Rise, associate professor of sociology and criminal justice, and Valerie Hans, professor emeritus of sociology and criminal justice, were quoted in a story about the 10th anniversary of the murder of Anne Marie Fahey by Thomas Capano in the June issue of Delaware Today magazine. Charles Elson, Edgar S. Woolard Jr. Chair in Corporate Governance and director of the John L. Weinberg Center for Corporate Governance, was quoted in a June 2 Washington Post story about the Enron board of directors and in a June 2 New York Times story about Goldman Sachs. Concerning the Enron directors, he told the Post, “They have experienced an extraordinarily difficult couple of year. They've become the poster children of failed directors.” Elson also was quoted in a June 1 Financial Times story about stock options, a May 30 St. Louis Post-Dispatch story about the Brown Shoe Co., a May 30 Business Week story about Enron, a May 30 The Street story about options backdating in the technology sector and a May 29 Providence Journal story about executive pay. Jack Bowman, assistant professor of entomology and wildlife ecology, was quoted in a May 31 News Journal story about the impact of development on wildlife, as more animals are being struck by vehicles on roads in the state. Rob Palkovitz, professor of individual and family studies, was quoted in a May 29 News Journal story about fathers working to find the right balance between work and family. Fran O'Malley, policy scientist with the Institute for Public Administration at UD, was quoted in a May 27 Delaware State News story about international education in schools in southern Delaware. |
