Howard H. Seymour
 

4:07 p.m., June 2, 2006--Howard H. Seymour died at home in Lewes, on Dec. 4.

Mr. Seymour was born March 23, 1926 in Philadelphia. Early in his career, he was a dairy farmer in Carlisle, Pa. He received a degree in animal husbandry from Penn State.

His family vacationed in Lewes when he was young, moving there permanently in the 1950s.

Mr. Seymour was a marine advisory agent at the College of Marine Studies in Lewes until early retirement in the late 1980s. He then began a new career as a wastewater treatment operator at the Lewes Board of Public Works Treatment Plant until his retirement in 1993.

He was well-known for his dedication to the city of Lewes and the Board of Public Works, on which he served from 1976-86 and from 2000 until his death. Mr. Seymour also was ex-officio to the Lewes Planning Commission, where he represented the Board of Public Works.

Mr. Seymour was a member of the Lewes Presbyterian Church, as well as American Legion Post #17, as a veteran of World War II.

He leaves behind his daughter, Julia, and her son, Matthew, of Tillamook, Ore.; son, Curtis, and his wife, Jill, and their son, Neal, currently of Seaford, N.Y.; and best friends, Ruth Anne Ritter McMahon, and her husband, John McMahon.

Services were private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
