UD soccer player Haney is recognized by CAA

11:58 a.m., Jan. 13, 2006--University of Delaware junior defender Matt Haney has been named the Colonial Athletic Association Scholar-Athlete of the Year for men’s soccer.

Haney, who is majoring in biological sciences with a minor in chemistry, has a 3.984 grade point average. He was named a College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-American in November, becoming the first men’s soccer player in UD history to be named to the first team.

A two-year co-captain and three-year starter, Haney has appeared in 55 career games with 54 starts. He has four goals and one assist. He is a two-time member of the CAA Academic Honor Roll.
