WVUD radiothon fund-raising concert set Feb. 17

D. Goode
2:04 p.m., Jan. 27, 2006--D. Goode, the rhythm and blues artist celebrated for giving traditional riffs modern treatments, will appear in concert at 8 p.m., Friday, Feb. 17, in the Bacchus Theatre in the Perkins Student Center.

Scheduled as part of the annual radiothon for WVUD (91.3 FM), UD’s community radio station, the concert will kick off with an introduction by Reggie Hudson, WVUD radio show host and general manager. Opening acts will include DJ Amaze and poetry by S.P.I.T. (the student group Stimulating Prose, Ideas and Theories).

The event is being billed as an upscale event with a romantic flair, in honor of Valentine’s Day, and is particularly geared for couples.

WVUD is an independent, listener-supported radio station that offers noncommercial, diverse programming to listeners and training to UD students interested in pursuing careers in broadcasting. Pledges from the annual radiothon provide an important source of revenue to the station and support WVUD’s commitment to quality, alternative radio programming.

General admission is $5 with a UD ID card and $7 without. VIP admission, which includes select seating, unlimited nonalcoholic beverages and a WVUD gift bag, is $10. Theatre capacity is 225, and general admission seating is on a first-come, first-served basis, so advance ticket purchases are advised. For more information, call (302) 831-2701.
