UD men's lacrosse defeats Lehigh, 10-9

1:35 p.m., Feb. 20, 2006--The University of Delaware men's lacrosse team remained undefeated with a 10-9 victory over host Lehigh University on Saturday.

The Fightin' Blue Hens were led by junior attack Marty Kupprion, who for the second straight game scored four goals. They jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead and were ahead 5-3 at the half before Lehigh edged ahead 7-6 after three quarters.

UD scored four unanswered goals to open the fourth quarter, including one by Kupprion and two by redshirt freshman midfielder Beau Davis, to build a 10-7 lead. Lehigh scored the final two goals of the game.

Also for the Hens, junior attack Cam Howard had two goals and Dan Deckelbaum and Jarryd Knouse had one each. Howard and Paul Rodriguez had two assists apiece. Alex Smith won 17 of 23 face-offs and had 11 ground balls.

With the victory, the Hens improved to 2-0. They will play their first home game of the season on Saturday, taking on Yale University at 1 p.m. at Rullo Stadium. Yale, which will be playing its season opener, is coached by former UD assistant Andy Shay.
