Spring PBL workshop schedule set 3:04 p.m., Dec. 8, 2005--A workshop series for faculty members and teaching assistants, Problem-based Learning: From Ideas to Solutions through Communication, will be offered from 1:30-4:30 p.m., on most Fridays, beginning Feb. 10 and ending May 12, at a location to be announced. Sponsored by the Institute for Transforming Undergraduate Education, the workshop series is designed to help faculty incorporate active learning into the classroom through assigning real, complex problems to teams of students. Working through the problem and presenting solutions, students engage in activities that promote critical thinking, research, teamwork and good writing and speaking skills. The first half of each session will feature brief presentations of key elements of PBL, and during the second half, participants will work on plans and materials for integrating PBL into their own classrooms and making use of WebCT. UD faculty members will receive a stipend in two portions for participation leading to curricular innovation. For more information, go to [www.udel.edu/inst/spr2006]. |
