Prof attends reception for Chinese president
5:58 p.m., April 26, 2006--Xiao-Hai Yan, Mary A. S. Lighthipe Professor of Marine Studies in the College of Marine Studies at UD, attended an April 20 ceremony and reception hosted by President George W. Bush at the White House to honor visiting Chinese President Hu. During the reception, Yan was able to take photographs of the event, many of which captured presidents Bush and Hu standing together, facing guests and members of the media.
Hu's visit to the United States began Tuesday, April 18, and included, in addition to meetings with President Bush and other United States policymakers in Washington, D.C., a visit with Microsoft founder Bill Gates in Seattle. High on the agenda during Hu's visit was China's rising status in the world's economy.
