Talk on šIntelligent Designš set Monday 2:47 p.m., April 13, 2006--“Intelligent Design: Bad Science or Bad Religion?” a lecture by John H. McDonald, associate professor of biology at UD, is set for 7 p.m., Monday, April 17, in 120 Smith Hall. McDonald will present a critical analysis of arguments made by proponents of the intelligent design concept, as well as his views on whether intelligent design qualifies as a scientific theory. McDonald earned his doctorate degree at the State University of New York at Stony Brook and did postdoctoral work at Princeton University and the University of Chicago. At UD, he conducts research on detecting the effects of natural selection on nuclear genes and teaches an undergraduate course on evolution and a graduate course on evolutionary genetics. The lecture, which is free and open to the public, is cosponsored by the Secular Student Alliance, Beta Beta Beta, the Philosophy Club and the College Democrats.
