Blue & Gold Club celebrates spring, summer

5:44 p.m., April 28, 2006--The Blue & Gold Club's celebration of its 35th anniversary continues with special menus and events throughout May and June.

The club brings back its popular Wine Course 103 on Tuesday, May 2. The course will run for three weeks and will explore the lighter sides of wines. Registration is encouraged as soon as possible.

The Tavern will offer specials for Cinco de Mayo on Friday, May 5.

Fans of the Kentucky Derby can watch the 132nd running on the club's big screen on Saturday, May 6. A reception will begin at 4 p.m. and a dinner buffet at 5 p.m. There also will be games and contests.

From 5-8 p.m., Thursday, May 11, adults and children can enjoy food from the Flavors of Asia menu. The menu includes vegetables tempura, chicken in curry sauce and Thai-inspired pumpkin tart. Cost of the dinner is $19.95 for adults and $10.50 for children ages 5 to 11.

In honor of Mother's Day, the club offers a Mother's Day Brunch on Sunday, May 14. Seatings will be at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. The menu includes omelets made to order, waffles with assorted toppings and carved leg of lamb. Cost of the brunch is $19.95 for adults and $10.50 for children ages 5 to 11.

A Commencement Lunch will celebrate the Class of 2006 on Saturday, May 27. Seatings will be at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

Adults can sample a variety of wines while dining at the Festival of Wines from 5-8 p.m., on Thursday, June 1. The menu includes blackened sea scallops served with tomato-mango chutney, tropical crab crusted mahi mahi with citrus vinaigrette and fresh berries gratinees. Cost of the festival is $34 per person and $29 for dinner only.

The club welcomes summer with its Welcome to Summer Barbecue from 6-9 p.m., Thursday, June 8. The menu includes chilled blueberry soup with cinnamon croutons, barbecued baby back ribs and corn on the cob. Cost of the barbecue is $19.95 for adults and $10.50 for children ages 5 to 11.

Celebrate Father's Day at the club with Father's Day Brunch on Sunday, June 19. Seatings will be at 10 a.m. and noon. The menu includes cinnamon French toast with maple syrup, hashbrown potatoes and carved herb-crusted roast turkey breast. Cost of the brunch is $19.95 for adults and $10.50 for children ages 5 to 11.

Lobster Night will be held from 6-9 p.m., Thursday, June 22, and Crab Fest will be celebrated from 6-9 p.m., Saturday, July 1.

This summer, the club offers half-priced nachos every Tuesday in the Tavern. In May, a baked potato bar will alternate weekly with a taco bar on Wednesdays beginning Wednesday, May 3.

During the summer, dinner will be served from 6-9 p.m., Friday and Saturday, in the Main Dining Room and from 5-9 p.m., Thursday through Saturday, in the Tavern.
