OBrien finishes third in CAA cross country 9:30 a.m., Nov. 1, 2004--The University of Delaware men's cross country team finished fourth and the womens team fifth in the Colonial Athletic Association championships run Saturday morning at New Market, Va. The Fightin Blue Hens Colleen O'Brien finished third in 21:27.00, the best finish by a member of the UD womens team in the CAA championships and the first top 10 showing since Aimee Alexander came in sixth at the 2001 championships. The College of William and Mary, which had the top four finishers, won the men's title with 18 points. They were followed by James Madison (45), Virginia Commonwealth (87), UD (107), the University of North Carolina Wilmington (144), Hofstra (168) and George Mason (209). William and Mary also won the women's championship, with 36 points. They were followed by James Madison (37), Virginia Commonwealth (106), Towson (116), UD (127), UNC Wilmington (149), Hofstra (155) and George Mason (237). Matt Keally of William and Mary won the eight-kilometer men's race in 25:15.60, while Shannon Saunders of James Madison won the six-kilometer women's race in 21:00.40. Tyler Mayforth finished 22nd for the UD men in 27:02.50. Also for the Hens, P.J. Meany finished 23rd in 27:14.70, Peter Kane 28th in 27:39.10, Matt Harrell 29th in 27:45.90, Bradley Dodson 30th in 27:56.10, Kevin DuPrey 35th in 28:08.10, Kyle Schmid 36th in 28:09.40, Jason Gordon 37th in 28:12.70, Mike Zeberkiewicz 39th in 28:27.00, Tim Vitez 41st in 28:46.80, Daniel Frey 46th in 28:56.20 and Matt Bryden 51st in 29:25.20. For the UD women, Kate Klim finished 30th in 24:03.90, Ashley Olsen 36th in 24:25.50, Allison Behrle 40th in 24:41.80, Sari Weissbard 43rd in 24:53.20, Leslie Wason 47th in 25:03.30, Brenda Greene 48th in 25:08.80, Mary Martini 49th in 25:10.30, Stefanie Gordon 55th in 25:28.80, Meghan Weaver 65th in 26:00.90, Toni Riggi 67th in 26:16.00 and Colleen Reid 68th in 26:19.10.
