WVUD announces basketball broadcasts

11:30 a.m., Oct. 21, 2004--WVUD, the University of Delaware radio station, has announced a full schedule for its 2004-05 Fightin’ Blue Hens basketball coverage.

The station will broadcast a total of 27 men’s basketball games and 22 women’s basketball games on WVUD-FM 91.3 and on WVUD2, which provides coverage via the Internet at [www.wvud.org]. All WVUD-FM and WVUD2 basketball broadcasts will feature a 15-minute pre-game show, along with postgame player interviews, as time allows.

In addition to the radio and Internet, Blue Hen fans can listen to the WVUD-FM broadcast as the audio on channel 2 of Comcast Cable of New Castle County.

WVUD has been covering University of Delaware athletics for more than 20 years. This year, WVUD Sports plans to broadcast more than 100 events, including UD basketball. For the complete sports broadcast schedule, see [www.wvud.org/sports.htm].

UD men’s basketball coverage on WVUD2 will begin with the game Nov. 4 against Widener University. Other games on the Internet are Nov. 27 against Mount St. Mary’s, Dec. 8 against Drexel, Dec. 11 against Rider, Dec. 29 against the University of Maryland Baltimore County, Jan. 2 against American, Jan. 19 against Virginia Commonwealth, Jan. 29 against the University of North Carolina Wilmington, Feb. 5 against William and Mary and Feb. 19 against Hofstra.

Coverage on WVUD-FM will begin with the game at Ohio State University on Nov. 19. Other games on the radio station are Nov. 29 against Loyola, Dec. 18-23 from the San Juan Shootout in Puerto Rico, Jan. 5 against Towson, Jan. 8 against William and Mary, Jan. 12 against George Mason, Jan. 15 against James Madison, Jan. 22 against Hofstra, Jan. 26 against Old Dominion, Jan. 31 against George Mason, Feb. 2 against James Madison, Feb. 9 against Old Dominion, Feb. 12 against Towson, Feb. 16 against Virginia Commonwealth and Feb. 26 against Drexel.

The radio station also will cover the Colonial Athletic Association tournament, scheduled March 4-7 in Richmond, Va.

UD women’s basketball coverage on WVUD2 will begin with the exhibition game against an international opponent Nov. 6. Other games on the Internet are Nov. 21 against Loyola, Nov. 30 against Stony Brook, Dec. 9 against Fairfield, Jan. 14 against UNC Wilmington, Jan. 16 against George Mason, Jan. 30 against James Madison, Feb. 13 against Virginia Commonwealth, Feb. 20 against Towson and Feb. 27 against Hofstra.

Coverage on WVUD-FM may begin Dec. 4-5 at the University of Arizona Tournament, depending on whether the football team is in the NCAA Division I-AA playoffs. Other games on the radio are Jan. 6 against Drexel, Jan. 9 against Old Dominion, Jan. 20 against Towson, Jan. 23 against Hofstra, Jan. 27 against William and Mary, Feb. 3 against George Mason, Feb. 11 against Old Dominion, Feb. 17 against William and Mary, Feb. 24 against Drexel and March 3 against James Madison.

The radio station also will cover the CAA tournament, scheduled March 9-12 in Fairfax, Va.
