UD women’s soccer blanks Towson 2-0

9:09 a.m., Oct. 25, 2004--The University of Delaware women's soccer team scored two early goals to defeat Towson University 2-0 in Colonial Athletic Association action on Friday night at Delaware Mini-Stadium.

With the Senior Night victory, the Fightin’ Blue Hens improved to 9-4-3 overall and 4-2-1 in the CAA. UD is tied for third place in the conference with Old Dominion University and close behind league-leading Hofstra University and the College of William and Mary.

In Friday’s game, UD struck on goals by Shannon Alger and Lindsay Novotny. The Alger goal came after a corner kick by Melissa Kunisky that was directed to her by Alli D’Amico. Novotny’s goal, the first of her career, came on a pass from Allison Kendro.

UD goalkeeper Bonnie Mills made one save to post her second shutout of the year.

UD will return to action on Thursday, Oct. 28, when the Hens travel to James Madison University for a CAA contest at 6 p.m. UD will then visit George Mason University for a game at 7 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 30, to close out both the conference season and the regular season.

The CAA tournament will open Nov. 2.
