Lytwynec goal lifts UD women’s soccer

10:46 a.m., Oct. 4, 2004--Splitting a pair of weekend Colonial Athletic Association road games, the University of Delaware women’s soccer team followed a 2-1 loss to Hofstra University on Friday night with a 1-0 victory over Drexel University on Sunday afternoon.

The Fightin’ Blue Hens are now 6-3-3 overall and 1-2-1 in the CAA.

UD will return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 5, when the Hens travel to Howard University for a nonconference contest.

Against Drexel, UD won on a goal by freshman defender Kendall Lytwynec in the 19th minute. Lytwynec's goal came from 25 yards out on a ball that just found the top right hand corner of the net.

Sophomore Bonnie Mills started in goal for the Hens and made four saves for her first shutout of the season.

Against Hofstra, UD scored the first goal of the game when freshman Lindsay Boyd found the net off a corner kick by junior Melissa Kunisky just 1:28 into play.

Hofstra’s Elyse Bizzozzaro evened the score and Emma Kilduff got the game-winner with 15 minutes left to play.

Lindsey Shover played the first half in goal for the Hens, making five saves. Bonnie Mills played the second half, also making five saves.
