Winterfest celebration set Friday evening

3:24 p.m., Nov. 30, 2004--Downtown Newark’s Winterfest, from 6-9 p.m., Friday, Dec. 3, is a special holiday treat for the entire family from toddlers to grandparents, as Main Street comes alive with sights and sounds of holidays past. The rain date is Saturday, Dec. 4.

Sponsored by the Downtown Newark Partnership, the event will include carolers, tree lighting, ice carvings, carriage rides, roasted chestnuts and, of course, a visit from Santa himself, plus other treats and activities. Restaurants and shops will have special offers, as well.

Downtown Newark shops will be especially festive for the Holiday Window Decorating Contest. Awards will be presented for the best overall, most creative, best holiday spirit and most colorful windows.

Remember parking at on-street meters and in municipal parking lots is free for Winterfest and other special holiday Downtown Newark events.
