UD women’s basketball falls to Georgetown

9:18 a.m., Nov. 29, 2004--The University of Delaware women’s basketball team fell 67-56 to host Georgetown University of the Big East Conference on Saturday afternoon.

The 1-1 Fightin’ Blue Hens hope to rebound with a home game against the State University of New York at Stony Brook at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 30, in the Bob Carpenter Sports/Convocation Center.

After the game against Stony Brook, UD will participate in the University of Arizona Tournament on Dec. 4-5. In addition to the host team, other participants are Weber State University and the University of North Carolina Greensboro.

Against Georgetown, senior forward Tiara Malcom and junior guard Amanda Blackstone led the Hens, both scoring 14 points and grabbing nine rebounds. Sophomore guard Alena Koshansky had 13 points, hitting on four of seven three-point attempts.

The Hens led 29-27 at halftime, but Georgetown pulled away with a second-half surge.
