UD volleyball team defeats Howard 3-0

9:08 a.m., Oct. 27, 2004--The University of Delaware volleyball team defeated Howard University 3-0 on Tuesday night at Barbara Viera Court in the Carpenter Sports Building.

The Fightin’ Blue Hens were led by freshman Colleen Walsh, who had nine of UD’s school record 20 service aces in the match.

Also for the Hens, Valerie Murphy had 11 kills and one block, Sarah Engle had nine kills and Allison Lutz had 25 assists.

UD senior Taylor Govaars had 12 digs, which raised her season total to 468. That is ninth all-time in the UD record books for digs in a season.

With the victory, UD improved to 17-6 on the season.

The Hens will return to Colonial Athletic Association action with a game at the University of North Carolina Wilmington at 7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 29. UD will play at the College of William and Mary at 7 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 30.
