Delaware volleyball falls 3-0 to Hofstra

9:46 a.m., Oct. 21, 2004--The University of Delaware volleyball team fell 3-0 at Hofstra University in a Colonial Athletic Association match played Wednesday night in Hempstead, N.Y.

The Fightin’ Blue Hens lost 30-21, 30-26 and 30-24. Hofstra, which won its seventh straight match and improved to 10-0 at home this season, avenged a 3-0 loss to UD earlier in the season.

With the loss, UD is 16-6 overall and 5-3 in the CAA. The Hens are in third place in the conference, trailing Hofstra and Towson University.

Sarah Engle led UD with 14 kills, one service ace and one assisted block. Claire McCormack had 10 kills and one ace, and Niecy Taylor and Colleen Walsh had four blocks each.

UD will return home for a match against Howard University at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 26, on Barbara Viera Court in the Carpenter Sports Building.
