Students delight local kids with Halloween treat

Count Dracula (center), aka Dickenson C resident freshman Darrynn Harris, welcomes (from left) werewolf Kristopher, aspiring executive Beatrice, hippie Phoebe and vampire Jessica to his lair.
11:51 a.m., Oct. 29, 2004--Princesses and pirates, ghosts and goblins and their families were invited to a Dickinson Halloween on Thursday evening, Oct. 28, in Dickinson Residence Halls. The concept came from hall director Kristen Golden, and resident assistants Eric Busillo and Kristina Campbell coordinated the celebration.

“We were having a floor-decoration competition with a Halloween theme, so it seemed a good time to invite kids for their special holiday,” Campbell said. Students spread the word by posting flyers at day care centers and neighborhood centers and going door to door in the nearby community.

The UD students said they enjoyed hosting the party. There were fun activities in the lounge, Campbell said, and refreshments were served. The children were escorted in groups to trick or treat at rooms adorned with pumpkins on the doors.
