Blue Hen tennis teams earn wins over LaSalle

9:44 a.m., Oct. 11, 2004--The University of Delaware tennis teams swept La Salle University by identical 7-0 scores on Saturday at the Delaware Field House courts.

The UD women’s team is now 7-0 in dual competition this season and off to its best start since 1997, when the Fightin’ Blue Hens opened the season 17-0. The UD men’s team improved to 2-0.

Earning victories for the UD women’s team were Susan Pollack at No. 1 singles, Liz Perlow at No. 2, Sari Shuster at No. 3 and Jamie DeGraffenreid at No. 4. Brittany Barsky and Marissa Singer gained victories by default at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively.

With the victories, Pollack and Perlow are 11-0 this season.

In doubles play, Pollack and Perlow were victorious at No. 1, Barsky and Miller at No. 2 and DeGraffenreid and Schiller at No. 3.

Earning victories for the men were John Tully at No. 1 singles, Adam Liebman at No. 2, Josh Ditman at No. 3, Jesse Carl at No. 4, Robert Wirth at No. 5 and Jason Hanschmann at No. 6.

With the win, Tully improved to 47-35 for his career. His 45 wins are seventh best in UD history.

In doubles action, Tully and Wirth won at No. 1, Carl and Hanschmann at No. 2 and Sammy Carl and Jonathon Schwartz at No. 3.
