Comedian Dan Kamin on campus Friday

12:32 p.m., Oct. 5, 2004--Dan Kamin, the critically acclaimed comedian and performance artist known for his pantomimes and illusion acts, will visit campus Friday, Oct. 8.

Kamin, who will teach a master class at 1:35 p.m. in Room 207 at the Amy E. DuPont Music Building, will preface his class with a
40-minute performance in the Food Court at the Trabant University Center. The performance, which will run from 11:30 a.m. to approximately 12:10 p.m., will feature Kamin’s “corpezoid man,” a slow-motion routine in which Kamin mimes the motions of a businessman in a trance.

The master class, which will include UD’s Lawrence Stomberg playing Bach’s First Cello Suite, will highlight Kamin’s musical movement routine, a mime act for which he is best known.

Kamin, who has been described as “part Buster Keaton and Charlie Chaplin, mixed with Marcel Marceau, Andy Kaufman and Steve Martin,” has trained actors Johnny Depp and Robert Downey Jr. for their own acclaimed performances.

Both Kamin’s performance and master class, which are cosponsored by the Delaware Symphony Association and Pennsylvania Performing Artists on Tour, are free and open to the public. For more information, call Debbie Engel, senior director of the Delaware Symphony Association and OperaDelaware, at (302) 656-7442, ext. 3156.
