UD, James Madison in key A10 showdown

11:06 a.m., Nov. 3, 2004--The University of Delaware and James Madison University will clash in a game that could determine the Atlantic 10 Football Conference champion at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 6, at Bridgeforth Stadium in Harrisonburg, Va.

The Fightin’ Blue Hens, ranked No. 6 in the most recent NCAA Division I-AA polls, are 6-2 overall and 5-0 in the Atlantic 10’s South Division. James Madison, ranked No. 7 in the polls, are 7-1 and 5-0 in the division.

James Madison is hoping to win its first conference championship since 1999.

The Dukes are riding a five-game winning streak following a 41-10 defeat of Virginia Military Institute. Their only loss came at the hands of Division I West Virginia University.

The James Madison defense leads the Atlantic 10 in total defense and scoring defense, allowing just 268.2 yards and 16.2 points per game.

James Madison quarterback Justin Rascati has completed 94 passes in 143 attempts for 1,042 yards and seven touchdowns. Tops receivers are D.D. Boxley, with 24 catches for 307 yards, Nic Tolley, with 18 catches for 186 yards, and Tom Ridley, with 17 catches for 212 yards.

Maurice Fenner is the leading rusher for James Madison, with 681 yards on 118 carries. He has seven touchdowns. Alvine Banks has 421 yards on 89 carries and Raymond Hines 378 yards on 71 carries.

Tony LeZotte leads the team with 65 tackles.

UD quarterback Sonny Riccio has completed 163 of 272 passes for 1,652 yards, 11 touchdowns and eight interceptions. The two top receivers are Justin Long, with 45 catches for 586 yards, and David Boler, with 38 catches for 507 yards.

Lonnie Starks is the Hens’ leading rusher, with 78 carries for 385 yards. Niquan Lee has 77 carries for 292 yards and nine touchdowns.

After James Madison, UD will travel to the University of Richmond for a game Saturday, Nov. 13, and will host archrival Villanova University in the season finale Saturday, Nov. 20, at Delaware Stadium.
