David Hollowell, UD executive vice president, is quoted in the November 2004 issue of the Business Officer, a publication of the National Association of College and University Business Officers. The magazine includes a feature on university conference centers and highlights the new Courtyard Newark-University of Delaware on the Laird Campus. Charles Elson, Edgar S. Woolard Jr. Chair and director of the John L. Weinberg Center for Corporate Governance, was quoted in a Nov. 16 New York Times story about a Securities and Exchange Commission lawsuit against former Hollinger International executives and in a Nov. 16 Los Angeles Times story about the Walt Disney Co. trial in the Delaware Court of Chancery, which he said has not been a reputation enhancer for any of the companys leaders. Ralph Begleiter, Edward and Elizabeth Goodman Rosenberg Professor of Communication and Distinguished Journalist in Residence at UD, was the focus of a page one feature in the Nov. 15 News Journal. Fred DeMicco, Aramark Chair and chairperson of the Department of Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Management, was quoted in a Nov. 14 News Journal story on the new Courtyard Newark-University of Delaware on UDs Laird Campus. "It's a beautiful hotel. It's going to be a wonderful learning laboratory for our students," DeMicco said. Vivian Klaff, associate professor of sociology, was noted in a Nov. 14 New York Times story on the political conversion of New York Citys evangelical population. Klaff had analyzed data from a study by the Association of Statisticians of American Religious Bodies. Laurence Seidman, Chaplin Tyler Professor of Economics, was quoted in a Nov. 13 Reuters story on proposed changes to the U.S. tax code. "We've got to have progress in tax reform but it still has to be fair," he said. Patricia DeLeon, professor of biological sciences, was quoted in a Nov. 12 Associated Press story on research at the University of North Carolina in the development of a new contraceptive for men.
