Luther III, Maxwell P. and Mildred H. Harrington Professor of Marine Studies, was quoted in a Nov. 9 News Journal story on the environmental challenges facing Delawares inland bays. Joseph Pika, professor of political science and international relations, was quoted in a Nov. 8 News Journal story about how divisions in the Delaware electorate mirror those nationally. "We're a microcosm of the composition of the national population," Pika said. "To the degree that north and south are distinctive, we capture both," he said. "We're a corporate center, so there's a strong recognition of corporate interests. We have organized labor here. And, we have rural interests in the south." Ben Yagoda, professor of English, wrote on the literary merit of the 9/11 Commission report in a posting Nov. 8 on the Slate web site. Charles Elson, Edgar S. Woolard Jr. Chair and director of the John L. Weinberg Center for Corporate Governance, was quoted in a Nov. 7 Philadelphia Inquirer story about how staff at the Securities and Exchange Commission considered but ultimately rejected plans to investigate U.S. senators who made high profits during the bull market of the 1990s.
