Talk on women, HIV/AIDS Wednesday 5:22 p.m., Oct. 25, 2004--Lisa Bowleg, associate professor of psychology at the University of Rhode Island, will give a lecture titled Oppression Embodied: Women, Ethnicity, Class and the HIV/AIDS Epidemic, at 6 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 27, in the Presidents Room at the Blue & Gold Club. The lecture, which is free and open to the public, is the first event in the 2004-05 Delaware Seminars in Womens Studies dinner series, sponsored by UDs Women Studies Interdisciplinary Program. A reception will be held at 5:30 p.m. Bowleg received her doctoral degree in applied social psychology from George Washington University. Her research and publications focus on stress and resilience among black, gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender persons. Bowleg has published book chapters and journal articles, including Sexual Identity in Sociocultural Context in Mental Health, Mental Illness and Personality Development in a Diverse Society and Gender Roles, Relationship Power Strategies and Precautionary Sexual Self-Efficacy: Implications for Womens Condom/Latex Barrier Use in Sex Roles.
